Train Writer Series

The Train Writer series holds still the speed of commuter culture. The images simulate one's intimate train of thought by juxtaposing a still thought form verse with a fleeting New York scene, further blurring the lines between observer and subject, thus redefining how poetry is experienced as a singular but shared affair between source and muse.

In such a symmetry, the transience of transit is a reflection of the ephemeral nature of our own emotions in between destinations. Similar to our thoughts in transit, the words in focus simulate the beholder's grasp and clarity over their own anonymous experience.

The text-image relationship is two-fold—the poem speaks to the scene, as the scene speaks to the language, but the words could belong to the beholder, the subject observed, or a voice in a conversation not represented.

In turn, the verses serve as a guide through the labyrinth of one’s own psyche toward their own center as directions would lead a passenger to their destination.

The Train Writer Series aims to restore meaning to routine by inviting observation and balance through empowering, skeptical, and paradigm shifting verses. It is an invitation to look more closely at what too often escapes us—the intimacy, moods, and stories of passengers, reminding viewers to look within as much as they do without.
